The effectiveness of MBT has been demonstrated by numerous scientific studies. Moreover, the beneficial effects of Masai Barefoot Technology on the human locomotor system, as well as the functionality of MBTs, are researched at internationally prominent universities and hospitals.

MBT training may be an ideal alternative to sensorimotor training in respect to injury prevention and rehabilitation. In the following study the effect of a conventional sensorimotor training was compared to the effect of the use of MBT shoes. Participants of the study a) wore MBT shoes (Model Sole 2005) for a minimum of 4 hours/day for 8 weeks or b) performed sensorimotor training in the same timeframe.
Before the study, after four weeks and eight weeks after the intervention, the effects of both methods on different biomechanical parameters were investigated. Wearing the MBTs for eight weeks had the same positive effect for postural stability as four weeks of sensorimotor training. So it can be considered that the MBT effect increases with time. MBT training also improved the strength of the calf muscles significantly.
The study shows that MBT training for a minimum of 8 weeks achieved an improvement of postural stability, which is comparable with the effect of a sensorimotor training for the same time.
